About Us
"As a driving instructor, I kept seeing the same thing. Millions of international visitors arrive in the UK every year, hire a car, and drive on roads they have never encountered before — on the wrong side of the road, with no formal preparation whatsoever. Some arrive confident. Most arrive anxious. But here's the reality: even experienced 'native' drivers struggle with some of the UK's road network, especially in Scotland. International drivers, arriving tired and unfamiliar with our roads, were being set up to fail.
That's when I decided to build Safer International Driving."
"I am a qualified Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) regulated by the DVSA, with experience teaching across all vehicle types — from standard cars to large vehicles like buses and lorries. My experience — combined with over 60 years of collective expertise from the instructor network behind SID — means every lesson, every video, and every piece of content is built on genuine, professional knowledge.
I do not just understand the rules of the road — I live and work within the UK driving instruction profession every day. I know what confuses international drivers. I know what worries them. And I know exactly what preparation actually works."

Why This Matters.
Road safety is not abstract. Every course completed is a driver who arrives better prepared, more confident, and less likely to cause or be involved in an incident. At scale, that has genuine impact on the roads we all share.
International drivers are a growing part of UK traffic. The statistics are clear — more visitors, more hirers, more relocated workers. And the data shows they are overrepresented in certain types of incidents, particularly in unfamiliar situations like narrow roads, car parks, and slow-speed manoeuvres.
That is not because international drivers are bad drivers. It is because they are unprepared for roads and vehicles they have never encountered before. Preparation changes that.
Safer International Driving exists to close that gap. Every person we prepare is someone who arrives confident instead of anxious. Someone who understands what to expect. Someone who is genuinely safer on UK roads — and makes every road safer for everyone else too.
What we offer.
What started as a single online course has evolved into a complete driver preparation ecosystem. Today, Safer International Driving offers:
Online Courses in Multiple Languages — Structured preparation courses in English, French, Spanish, German, and Polish, with more languages coming. Choose the tier that suits you — from online course only, to course plus virtual expert sessions, to course combined with practical in-car instruction.
Practical Driving Instruction — Hands-on lessons with qualified ADI instructors on real UK roads. Whether you want to build confidence before your first solo drive, practise specific routes, or prepare for the UK driving test, we match you with an instructor in your area.
Motorhome & Campervan Training — Specialist instruction for drivers unfamiliar with larger vehicles. We cover vehicle dimensions, slow-speed manoeuvres, narrow roads, and the specific challenges of driving a motorhome safely on UK roads.
Business Solutions — For employers, universities, relocation companies, and motorhome hire operators who need to ensure their people arrive prepared. We offer licensing options, customised training programmes, and partnership arrangements tailored to organisational needs.
Exclusive Resources — Members gain access to a protected community area with road reports, fuel calculators, countryside codes for each UK nation, and curated guides to specific roads and routes.
We are building the one-stop resource for anyone driving in the UK for the first time — whether visiting, relocating, studying, or driving a motorhome.
